Hungary Heart

On Sunday the 17th of September, beside Lake Balaton, on the Tihany Peninsula south west of Budapest… under a late summer sun… after Bitberger beers and a picnic shared on a bright red park bench… Jon asked me to marry him!

We’d just finished our sandwiches and packed up and I’d stood up to leave when he, still sitting, pulled me down again and said “hang on a minute, will you marry me?”. Literally, just like that.

He says I took ages to say yes. In fact it wasn’t until I saw the glint of the ring in his hand, that I realised he wasn’t winding me up! Some good friends had got engaged the night before in Prague and we’d been teasing each other about whether we’d be next.

So penny - and jaw - seriously dropped, I then spent the next few minutes laughing, crying and generally leaping around the lake before I heard “So… will you!?!”. I thought my behaviour might have given my ‘yes, yes, yes’ away!

Spent the rest of the day wandering round in a complete daze, either staring at my hand or grinning like a mad woman.

Have loads more photos of our trip that we'll share with you soon - Hungary is amazing.

In the meantime, we've got a wedding to plan!!

Thank you so much to everyone who's already called, texted and emailed. It was such a buzz to hear from you and know you were all so happy for us. We are too!!

Lots of love from us both,

Han and Jon xxx
